Agriculture can only be truly sustainable if it uses open-pollinated seeds that can be selected and saved for the following growing period.  Plants from modern hybrid or genetically-modified seeds cannot provide reliable seeds for replanting and thus seeds must be bought year after year.

Using open-pollinating seeds, crops can be grown that adapt to climate change by selecting from the gene pool
seeds from the plants that flourish despite temperature anomalies or changes in rainfall patterns.

Although every year more and more plant varieties are lost worldwide, there are still thousands that still exist and are being conserved with a multitude of different fruits and flavours to  discover!!
